Shamelog #006 - An Eager Assassin

Several metric tons of words have been spilled over the Assassins Creed franchise, and of all those the consensus on which one is the worst seems to be AC3. Yet here I find myself, diving headfirst into its colonial depths.

As one of those apparently hard to find fans of the modern day stuff, I've been looking forward to this game since I finished revelations several years ago. So far it has held up its end of the bargain - there's enough there to tease me. As for the actual assassin part, it takes a long time before you officially don the garb and mount the wrist blades as it were, but I've found the story to be quite intriguing. The playing of several different characters was the right choice I think, helping flesh out the characters and plot.

I'm finding the side activities of AC3 to be surprisingly fun - I do fancy a spot of checkers, and the side content related to the homestead and frontier are great. I'm loving the focus on the Native American story, and the diversity of the cast (particularly the homestead) is fantastic - something I've never heard spoken of in reference to this game.

I also started up Until Dawn this morning, thanks to my girlfriend. I'm what people would call a "baby", someone who nopes out of horror given the chance. But since she loves horror, we're doing this - on the stipulation that we play during the day and she is with me 100% of the way, making every decision. It's gonna take a while to get through, but it'll be worth it I hear.

Shorter post this week, though I have a feeling I'll have more to say about AC3 next week when I'm at least closer to done. Short version for now: this game shouldn't be looked over! It's no Ezio trilogy, sure, but it's actually still quite a good game.
