Cosy Up With a Warm Blanket and Some Cocoa

You know those games. Those ones you just snuggle up on the couch with and chill out to. They use a bit of brain power, but not too much. There might be a little bit of crafting. They’re are relatively low stakes. They are a good time when you just need something… comfortable. They also often contain witches, for some reason.

Wytchwood

A crafting focused game with gothic theming. Gather ingredients, craft spells, brew potions, solve puzzles and just generally vibe as a witch of the woods.

A Walk With Yiayia

An incredibly touching story focused game with wonderful mini games weaving throughout, topped by positively beautiful artwork.

Little Witch in the Woods

Early Access

Lovingly animated pixel art drives this gathering and crafting game. Play as an apprentice witch, out to learn and help people where you can. Not the usual early access style game, but while more story continues to be rolled out at a decent pace, what’s there is already just wonderful.

Dorfromantik

Finally out of EA this year, Dorfromantik is a positively wondrous building strategy game with very low stakes. Craft your little world with the tiles you have available, and watch it come to life as you play.

Isle of Arrows

A chill tower defence game from the minds behind Hitman GO and Lara Croft GO. Nice clean graphics, cleverly thought out systems and a decent progression system to keep you coming back.

Reefland

Dorfromantik meets Islanders. Even more chill, with even less challenge. Nice, simple fun.

Witchy Life Story

Grow your herbs and brew your concoctions as the village witch, helping the townsfolk with their problems and maybe even date some along your way to saving the harvest festival.

Potion Permit

Picture a blend of Stardew Valley and a JRPG, but instead you’re the town alchemist out to brew potions and help out the townsfolk. Probably the most action heavy game on this list, as you will spend time out in the world gathering ingredients from monsters and such, but still incredibly cosy.

Lonesome Village

A puzzle solving 2D combat-free adventure that’s got a hint of farming involved too. Very cute.

Social Moth

A cute, cheap little student game about dealing with social anxiety. Some 2D puzzle platforming is in the mix, with some wholesome conversations to also be had!

The Kids We Were

A story focused game with twinges of melancholy and nostalgia. Set in 80s Japan, follow this young boy on an intriguing adventure.

Beacon Pines

An absolutely gorgeous choose your own adventure book turned into a game. Life is Strange crossed with Night in the Woods.

Cats and the Other Lives

A wonderful little 2D adventure game about a cat that experiences the lives and histories of a broken family pulled back together thanks to a dearly departed member. Wonderful storytelling.
